About this Story
Mentor in Print
Phil Porter, my Journalism 101 professor at Ohio State University, guided my path into writing. He wasn't just a teacher, but a lifelong mentor who profoundly shaped my personal and professional life. His heroic battle with kidney cancer gave him a mission to educate and empower others through founding the Renal Cell Group, earning him the inaugural "Phil Porter Courage Award". His legacy serves as a testament to the transformative impact of mentorship and the power of resilience in the face of adversity.
