About this Story
Survivor Emotion
My father's journey through breast cancer proved that it doesn't discriminate between sexes. Diagnosed in 1995, he overcame it through surgery and chemotherapy. His survival hinged upon his decision to contact his doctor when he found a lump during a shower. His experience served as a reminder that men, too, must keep an eye out for signs of breast cancer. During Breast Cancer Awareness Month this and every October, the pink ribbon isn't just for women -- it also symbolizes men like my father who have faced and conquered this disease. It's a message of vigilance and hope that resonates all year.
