African elephants are classified as an endangered species. There are two main species of African elephants: the African savanna (or bush) elephant and the African forest elephant. Both species have suffered significant population declines due to habitat loss and poaching for their ivory tusks. Their tusks, which are enlarged incisor teeth, are used for digging and stripping bark from trees and fighting. Conservation efforts are ongoing to protect these majestic animals and their habitats and to crack down on the illegal ivory trade. 

Gentle Giants

This gallery features Love Does, an organization that fights for freedom and human rights, works to improve educational opportunities, and tries to be helpful to those in need of a voice and a friend.  Love Does programs include education programs in India, a leadership academy in Uganda, and a girl's home in Nepal. Numerous initiatives are also taking place in countries such as Somalia, Afghanistan, Congo, Dominican Republic, Ukraine, Poland, Israel, and Burkina Faso.
