On our travels to Cambodia, we visited a local village outside of Siem Reap. The homes were built on stilts because the water would come through and flood the village time and time again. Trash littered the streets around the homes. But the happiness and joyfulness of the children was shining bright through their smiles and laughter. The living conditions for these residents were far different than what my children have ever known. But being able to get a glimpse into their world was powerful enough to help my children realize that happiness still abounds no matter the size of the home you live in or the neighborhood you play in.
